A Look at the 2020 UNC Tar Heels' Recruiting Class

Samuel Brice Hall leverages more than two decades of financial oversight experience to serve as director of investor relations at Piedmont Private Equity, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. An alumnus of the University of North Carolina (UNC), Samuel Brice Hall enjoys following the school's basketball team in his free time.

The Tar Heels faced a difficult challenge recruiting for the 2020 season, with half of the roster leaving via transfer, graduation, or the NBA Draft. Nonetheless, UNC recruited six highly regarded incoming freshman and have the number two recruiting class among all NCAA Division I teams, according to 247Sports. The website ranked Kentucky number one, but UNC had three five-star recruits and Kentucky only had two.

The departure of Cole Anthony to the NBA leaves a hole at the point guard position for UNC, but incoming freshman Caleb Love is a five-star recruit who should make an immediate impact at the position. Love, who was the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, was ranked as the third-best freshman by CBS Sports. The Tar Heels' recruiting class also includes guard RJ Davis, versatile, five-star bigs Walker Kessler and Day'Ron Sharpe, and scoring wingers Puff Johnson and Kerwin Walton.
